MIXING

A color instrument built on OKLCH – a color space that matches how eyes actually perceive lightness. Drag one seed through the gamut; get a full, contrast-checked palette out. The link updates as you mix – share it.

The shaded region is every color a screen can show at this hue – its curved edge is the sRGB gamut boundary. Arrow keys nudge the seed (shift for hue). Colors outside the edge get pulled to the nearest displayable chroma.

about

chase is mixing is a color instrument. Most color pickers work in RGB or HSL, where “50% lightness” means very different things at different hues. OKLCH is built on how human vision actually works, so steps that look even, are even – which is what makes the generated ramps usable straight out of the box.

The stack. One self-contained file. The OKLCH ↔ sRGB math is hand-rolled and verified as a lossless round-trip, the gamut slice is drawn on a 2D canvas, and the WCAG contrast checks are computed live as you drag. No libraries, no server, no analytics.
